My name is Gustavo Medina; I am a proudly Mexican plastic artist. I love creating things, giving something ordinary a great meaning and making it beautiful with imaginative interventions and ideas that come to my mind. I make art to embellish environments, but my main goal is to make people happy.

My principal inspiration is surrealism, smiles, remedies and potions, peculiar character created out from dreams. In my paintings, you can find fixes that can change the bad experiences, memories, or moments, into a status of peace and tranquility. The influence of the composure of the night, the dark colors, especially blue, celestial bodies, flowers, the dew, perfumes and fragrances, feelings of love and joy, give the entire atmosphere of inspiration for me to create my stories on canvas.

 

The paintings that I create are full of meanings. Each of them tells a story that each of us could give a different interpretation; they send a message of peace, hope, love and joy, a new chance, and a new future with a slightly elegance and stylish taste.

 

The special and unique touch that my paintings have is a mystical atmosphere, something coming out from my mind, always trying to make common objects into something marvelous, which has powers to solve and cure. What makes them distinctive is that all of them are linked somehow, with colors, objects, symbols or characters, so this means that every single story told in one piece, is linked to all of them in some way.

 

My favorite media is cardboard canvas that makes painting surface stronger and easier to frame. Acrylics are my colors, the colors that give life to the artwork, since they provide versatile textures, brushes strokes and fine brushes. Commonly painting during nights, because of the still, mystical atmosphere that involves; sometimes with the company of a good iced coffee, and the inspiration that brings the magic and beauty of art.

Mi nombre es Gustavo Medina; Soy un artista plástico orgullosamente mexicano. Me encanta crear cosas, dar a algo ordinario un gran significado y embellecerlo con intervenciones imaginativas e ideas que me vienen a la mente. Hago arte para embellecer ambientes, pero mi objetivo principal es hacer feliz a la gente.

 

Mi principal inspiración es el surrealismo, sonrisas, remedios y pociones, personajes peculiares creados a partir de los sueños. En mis pinturas, se pueden encontrar arreglos que pueden cambiar las malas experiencias, recuerdos o momentos, en estados de paz y tranquilidad. La influencia de la composición de la noche, los colores oscuros, especialmente el azul; los cuerpos celestes, las flores, el rocío, perfumes y fragancias, los sentimientos de amor y alegría, dan toda una atmósfera de inspiración para crear mis historias sobre lienzo.

 

Las pinturas que creo están llenas de significados. Cada una de ellas cuenta una historia a la cual cada uno de nosotros podría dar una interpretación diferente; envían un mensaje de paz, esperanza, amor y alegría; una nueva oportunidad, y un nuevo futuro con un poco elegancia y estilo.

 

El toque especial y único que mis pinturas tienen, es una atmósfera mística, algo que sale de mi mente, siempre tratando de hacer que los objetos comunes se transformen en algo maravilloso, que tiene facultades para resolver y curar. Lo que las hace distintas es que todas ellas están relacionadas entre si de alguna manera, con colores, objetos, símbolos o personajes, esto significa que cada historia que se cuenta en una sola pieza, está vinculada a todas ellas de alguna manera.

 

Mi medio favorito es la tela sobre cartón, que hace la superficie de las pinturas más fuerte y más fácil para enmarcar. Los acrílicos son mis colores, los colores que dan vida a la obra, ya que proporcionan texturas versátiles, cepillos y pinceles de finos trazos. Comúnmente pinto durante las noches, debido a la atmósfera mística y tranquila; a veces con la compañía de un buen café con hielo, y la inspiración que trae la magia y la belleza del arte.
